HONOLULU -- The vendor that supplied the license printing machines at the end of 2007 for Hawaii has replaced about 50 faulty machines at no cost to taxpayers. Some licenses issued before the change are starting to peel now."We still have a problem. People are still bringing in licenses that are coming apart and we always send it the mainland to the vendor so we make sure we don't have the same problem," licensing administrator Dennis Kamimura said.
If your driver's license is peeling, the Department of Motor Vehicles will waive the $5 replacement fee, officials said.In a separate development, drivers between 25 and 72 years old can now renew their licenses every eight years instead of six.
